Prof Kwame Addo showcases blueprints for Ghana’s development

Prof Kwame Addo, an academic of many parts, has showcased comprehensive blueprints to Ghana’s development.

The blueprints, mostly in the form of maps and art, is a culmination of 40 years of dedicated research on Ghana, its natural resources and development potential.

Themed: ‘Once, And For All – Connecting Creativity’, the exhibition, which came off at the National Theatre, showed detailed maps of Ghana’s natural resources, law, informative education and pathways to the country’s development.

Categorised into subsections – ‘I see a Land’, the maps were categorised under, ‘I see a Land of Law & Order’, ‘I see a Land of Mobilizing Investment, ‘I see a Land of Informative Education on Ghana’, ‘I see a Land for You and for Me’ among others.

Prof. Addo holds an impressive resume. He is a professor of Architecture, Environmental Design, Graphic Design and Industrial Design.

Some of his major achievements include the design of the 190EMercedes Benz car which is used worldwide, the architectural design of the BBVA Bank headquarters and the Colombian commemorative currency note for the discovery of the Americas.

He is simply a jack of all trades! He is an artist, designer, architect, musician, visualizer, communicator and a host of others.

His compositions which are played and sold across the globe by EMI Publishing, Power House Records and CBS records include Arriba, Mixed feelings, Samba Highlife, Obaa Frema, Celebration of Love and Moonlight Dancer.

Prof Kwame Henaku Addo, a native of Abiriw Akwapim in the Eastern Region. Born in Tamale on August 9, 1957 and educated at the Mort Lake School UK, Akropong Demonstration School, Akropong Akwapim, Achimota Primary, Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and Rhode Island School of Design, USA.

After the exhibition, which was hosted by Jay Foley, Prof Addo told Myjoyonline.com that his aim is “to show the relevance of creativity to our developmental process.”

According to him, his works are his way of contributing his quota to the nation’s development.
