Deontay Wilder's Rematch With Tyson Fury 'Heading To New York's Barclays Center For April 27 Or May 18'

Deontay Wilder’s rematch with Tyson Fury edges closer with the fight ‘heading to the Barclays Center in April or May’.

According to boxingscene.com, the New York venue missed out on the fight first time round but is now in pole position to host the pair’s second meeting.

It is believed an announcement on a rematch between the two fighters will be made in the next few weeks with both April 27 and May 18 touted as potential dates.

The two fighters fought in a thrilling contest that ended in a controversial draw last December at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

But while the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is among the venues being considered, the report by boxingscene suggests the rematch is close to being announced on the east coast.

Wilder would be no stranger to the Brooklyn venue having headlined three fights there since January 2016. Fury, on the other hand, has never fought there but has experience nearby at Madison Square Garden.

Anthony Joshua, the IBF, WBA and WBO champion still wants a fight with Wilder in a bid to unify the heavyweight division.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn says Alabama native Wilder is avoiding the former Olympic champion.

Unsurprisingly Wilder wholeheartedly rejects those comments: ‘Don’t listen to what Eddie [Hearn] says. It will come around. It’s Wilder-Fury, that’s it.’

Joshua could fight Jarrell Miller or Dillian Whyte in the interim but it seems he will have to wait to get his hands on Fury or Wilder with a New York rematch edging ever closer.
