OVER 1000 GHANAIANS PROTEST AGAINST SALE OF SSNIT HOTELS

Over thousand Ghanaian’s (1000) which include the Minority Caucus in Parliament, Representatives of Organized Labour, United Ga Dangme Caucus, La Youth Groups and Arise Ghana demonstrated over sale of SSNIT Hotel’s.

This comes on the back of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) almost done with the deal of selling its 60% shares in Labadi Beach Hotel, LA Palm Royal Beach Resort, Ride Royal Hotel, and Elmina Beach Resort to Rock City Hotel.

The demonstration started from the Labadi Beach Hotel early in the morning and end at Christ the King where the organizers presented their demand to the presidency.

Addressing the media, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa called on government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to immediately halt the sale of the SSNIT Hotels to Hon. Bryan Acheampong who is the current minister of Agric.

The demonstrators opined that it is wrong, immoral and unethical for ministers and government officials to buy state assets so therefore president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo must not preside over this detestable and dangerous practice.

According to Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, state assets should not be sold. He therefore called on government should immediately stop the sale of the SSNIT hotel’s.

To the demonstrators, state assets should not be deliberately run down so that politicians will successfully sell them to themselves.
